The millennial in me loves a good rom com that pulls from all the other rom coms we grew up with. The entire premise of this book is that 2 people use the cliche romance scenes to help further their careers - mason, a hopeless romantic who never ends up with the girl wants romance to be “ruined” for him while sawyer, a love cynic, needs to jump start her heart so she can write her next novel.
As predicted, they do end up finding their way to each other in the end, but I like that their journey is messy and even their reconciliation isn’t perfect.
This was a long one (I listened to the audiobook - almost 11 hours), so it did feel like it dragged a bit at times, but I like the character development that was able to happen as a result.

I really enjoyed this one. I thought Sawyer and Mason had great chemistry, and their characters felt believable.
The only thing that I had maybe a small dislike about was that it was written in 3rd person POV, which isn’t my favorite, though I will say that it was written well enough that it didn’t bother me too much.
I would definitely recommend this one, and I will definitely read more from Erin Connor in the future!
Many thanks to the author and publisher for an eARC for review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The formula in Unromance is pretty standard but the journey is unique. What was supposed to be a one night stand leads the MCs to make a pact to unblock writers block and prove romance is dead.
All of the characters, even the secondary characters, are fun to read. I usually don’t go for the miscommunication trope but I felt it worked here and created the right amount of conflict.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy of Unromance to read and review.
