This was cute. Took me a minute to get into it but it was entertaining and fun. Sawyer was a tiny bit unbelievable- she just seemed so young to a NYT best seller and a book that was turned into a movie. And I hate a third act breakup, but oh well.

im back from my several month reading slump THANK GOD
i think ill forever be a sucker for people who are able to be silly goofy with each other, and sawyer and mason are no exception. i really enjoyed the bits where mason and sawyer were going through the list. i could see they genuinely just enjoyed each other's company. their chemistry was great and also they were both (understandbly) very horny and down bad 🤷♀️.
as for the cons, i think maybe I'm getting older and less of a romantic and more of a pragmatic person again, but i really had to suspend ny disbelief at masons jump in logic to suggesting they could help each other (him unlearning his romantic tendencies and her, using the list to inspire her writing). i knew my boy was going through a tough time and that he was drinking when he suggested it but i REALLY had to let that just fly over my head and not think about it too hard after i read that. also, i do realize sawyer has trouble letting people in and letting herself be helped, but it did get tough reading her outbursts on page when they happened.
overall, though, the book was simple, cute, the main and side characters were fun, the spice was good AND it was lowk Christmas/New Years themed? And I think that was perfect because I realize my favorite time to consume Christmas content is during the summer soooooooo yah.

This was super cute! I had been avoiding romance for a while and focusing more on the fantasy books, slash re-reading Discworld and others, but this kicked off a romance binge. It's a debut novel, and we have a romance novelist who is suffering from writer's block, and an actor who falls in love at the drop of a hat. There's a bit of grumpy-sunshine, and a bit of fake dating, but really this book is a send up of tropes.
Now, I normally don't love this because the things about tropes is, we all know romance novels run on tropes. If there is a trip, there will be only one bed. If there is an ex, they will show up at a bad time. etc, etc. The point is not to bemoan the tropes and ask for a new plot lines (although sometimes it is!) but the POINT is to see the trope done well. Fake dating only works if there is real tension as the characters fall for each other. So when we have this type of book, that combines a bunch of tropes but breezes past the details and the tension, it doesn't always work.
But overall, this book really worked for me! I think a lot of it is because it's not really about the tropes, so instead we see this weird fake dating-ish tension build instead between two people who keep insisting they are not right for each other, or it's not the right time.

That was so good! It was a really great plot that had me laughing a lot. Also the characters were great I was truly rooting for them the entire time. For me romance can be insufferable and predictable but with this story line, though predictably it was very enjoyable. I loved the nod to the different romance movies and the punny chapter starters. I’ll definitely check out more of this authors works
