This was such a wonderful conclusion to the duology. I have to admit that in the first quarter of the book I was a little unsure that it was needed; another reviewer commented that the first book could have been longer and the events of this book tied in to make it a standalone. I thought the same at first but as the book went on I was grateful that we got to spend time with Anna and Khiran in their quiet settled moments and that we got to meet new characters. The build-up was worth it for the satisfying payoff that we got at the end.
I did dock half a star for a couple of minor editing gripes but it was nothing that spoiled my enjoyment of the book. These two books were my first experience with this author and I am so excited to read her other work!

I’ve become a huge fan of R. Raeta and can’t wait to read more from her. Honestly, she deserves to be the next TikTok sensation (and I deserve to be on the sidelines yelling “I’ve been telling y’all!!!). You know an author is worth your time when even the acknowledgements deserve to be highlighted
This book is a wonderful conclusion to the duology and delivers everything I hoped it would. I thought it would be more fast paced now that our MCs are together, but it isn’t. Things still take time to develop, to linger, but you’re also never ever bored by the plot. I love the character development, the themes of what it means to have something like immortality and to give it up, how you have to relearn how to live. I also love the theme of family, which was very present in the first book, but still in this one. Or how small acts still change humanity, even if it’s one person at a time.
The writing is just as good and poetic, I love that we get to see more of the world than just Europe and North America… I just love a lot about this book hahaha
But most of all, I love the love between the main characters. How bone/soul deep it is.

I really liked the first book, the slow growth of their romance and anna’s character growth. However this book feels entirely disconnected from the first. They are running from The First but there is no urgency since they get to stay everywhere and gaze into each other’s eyes, which got kinda tiresome after a while to be honest. I think you should just read the first book as a standalone.
Once again 5 ⭐️ for my girl Rachelle! I loved getting to finish Anna & Khiran's story!
