I stumbled upon Peaches and Honey by accident. I’m not even sure how it happened but once I read it, I was hooked. So much so that I was in the lookout for when the second book was coming out. I was not disappointed.
I love seeing how love developed between the main characters and how it continued throughout. The relationship crafted through centuries gets put to the test and seeing how they navigate is beautifully told.
R. Raeta takes you on a journey across and through the world. She has a way with words that makes you feel as if you’re experiencing this journey right along with them.

Peaches and Honey duology series review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5
11th century England. Anna has spent her years persecuted and cast out amongst society. Her neighbors whisper of her being a witch and blame the failed crops on her “evil” marks upon her skin. Despite her continued protesting they exile her, forcing her to forage and survive in the forest. Until one day she is yanked from her barren cottage and burned at the stake. However right before her capture she was gifted the most delicious peach to eat from a stranger. A peach that granted Anna immortality. As she walks unscathed from the ashes of the pyre she is again visited by the same shapeshifting god that bestowed this gift upon her. What follows are the stories and experiences of Anna’s many lives and her continued growing companionship with the enigmatic god that changed everything.

Have you ever read a book and just fell so completely in love with the characters that by the end of the series you’re heartbroken that it’s over… well this one definitely falls into that category for me. I wholly loved everything about this book. Every single page is beyond beautifully detailed and written. As each century passes you are not only shown how Anna is adjusting to her immortality and the many different names/lives she creates but you also get to see glimpses of history and events that transpired in those eras. Raeta effortlessly weaves these elements of history and fantasy so well together that I simply could not put these books down and managed to finish each book in one day. Watching Anna grow and evolve over the centuries was very refreshing. I loved watching her strength and self confidence blossom. She not only travels the world in her centuries of life but adapts to her surroundings by learning new languages, taking jobs, and forming connections amongst the people around her. Oh and don’t get me started on our trickster shapeshifting god Khiran and the amazing slow burn of this series. This definitely takes the take for best slow burn, I’m talking 800 years and I was devouring every second of it. I simply couldn’t get enough of watching Khiran’s visits to Anna that begin out of obligation and the slow change of them into curiosity, fascination, and admiration. You’re ever gifted little glimpses of Khiran’s feeling for Anna as they progress at the beginning of every chapter which I adored. Not to mention the whitty banter between them was beyond entertaining, heartfelt, and genuine.I loved watching Anna keep Khiran on his toes. As this is a series review I will say that where book 1 focuses mostly on Anna book 2 gives you much deeper insight into Khiran’s past and greater details on the gods and other immortals that inhabit their world. I could go on for hours about my love for this series and I am so excited to read more from R. Raeta as I anticipate them to be just as whimsical and beautiful as these. If you are a fan of gods, historical fiction with touches of magical realism/fantasy, and a slow burn romance spanning centuries then you need to read these immediately.

No, but really these two books are beautifully written.

Loved this duology exploring immortality and humanity. Though the second book doesn’t span the centuries the first book did, it packs quite a punch with the backstories and new characters we meet along the way. Anna is the altruistic heroine we don’t deserve. Khiran is the self-depracting underdog we love to love. Though the ending didn’t have a very surprising ending, it was a very satisfying ending that was very fitting. When you step back and look at Anna’s story as a whole it feels like one day her own story could become one of the greatest among the gods. Would absolutely recommend this duology.

Not super riveting
