Phiên bản tôi đọc là bản tiếng Pháp. Đây là series nhiều truyện về cậu nhóc Nicolas. Tôi mua chủ yếu để học tiếng Pháp vì nội dung truyện dành cho trẻ em nên câu từ cũng rất dễ hiểu. Tác giả cũng hay lặp lại từ, mẫu câu để nói về các nhân vật cũng như tính cách của họ, rất thích hợp cho việc học ngoại ngữ.
Tuy nhiên càng đọc tôi càng cảm thấy thú vị, có lẽ bởi vì đang đọc rất chậm và bằng tiếng Pháp nên nội dung truyện khiến tôi thấy thích thú dù rằng đây không phải là dành cho lứa tuổi của tôi.
Tuyện là những mẩu chuyện của cậu nhóc Nicolas kể về cuộc sống thường ngày của mình, về ba mẹ, thầy cô và bạn bè. Cách kể chuyện dí dỏm và ngây thơ của một đứa trẻ khiến ta thấy rất thú vị. Những việc mà người lớn thấy nay được rọi qua lăng kính của trẻ nhỏ khiến cho chúng thêm phần thú vị. Thật không thể tin được đây là sức tưởng tượng của một người trưởng thành đang đặt mình vào tâm lý trẻ thơ để viết nên loạt truyện này.
Goscinny là tác giả chính, Sempé là người vẽ minh họa. Tôi rất thích phong cách vẽ này của ông và có dự định học tập để áp dụng vào dự án riêng.
Nếu bạn không cùng mục đích học ngoại ngữ, cũng không thừa thải khi dành ít thời gian để đọc tác phẩm độc đáo này. Nếu có con nhỏ thì lại càng nên mua cho tụi nó đọc.

Je vais écrire ma critique en français parce que jsuis ~fluent~
J'étais agréablement surprise! J'aimais bien les petites histoires de Nicolas et ses amis, elles étaient tellement mignones!! Il y avait beaucoup de fois où j'ai éclaté de rire (même à l'arrêt de bus). J'ai rigolé chaque fois que Nicolas a décrit ses amis (Agnan, le chouchou de la maîtresse ou Alcest, mon gros ami qui mange toujours). Je mourrais de rire à chaque fois!
Ça m'intéressait, d'apprendre la culture des gamins français aux années 50s. En particulier, j'aimais bien apprendre de la dynamique des enfants et leur maîtresse! Ahh, la vie avant les smartphones était si différente!
En général, ce livre était mignon et c'était très facile à lire et à comprendre!

Charming illustrations and cute stories about a kid named Nicholas growing up in 50's France. Particularly appreciated how repetitive it is in describing some of the children (Eudes, un copain qui est très fort, Agnan, qui est le premier de la classe et le chouchou de la maîtresse etc) which is useful in language learning.
In terms of my comprehension, using Refold levels, the average level I had with these stories was Level 3, with a couple above at Level 4 and a couple below. This was after roughly two and a half months of French studying for approximately two hours per day, not including passive listening immersion time. Definitely want to go back and reread this one after learning more vocabulary and grammatical concepts!

Short stories about a French schoolboy. Required reading for school, which didn't help with how unexciting I found all the stories.

Je l'aime!
This book was so adorable, funny, and relatable even to a seventeen year old like me. Nicolas was so creative and had such a wild imagination. He did more things than I have and he's younger! His outlook on things, people, and on life in general was so relatable which is surprising considering the time period it is set on. I have watched some of the show's episodes on YouTube and I love it. I'm so glad my teacher made us read it. Definitely one of my favorite French books and a great book to end senior year and French IV with!
