I’m such a sucker for books set over the changing of the seasons. This is a beautiful sort-of memoir that charts the course of Nina Mingya Powles’s year in Shanghai through food. Never have I felt so hungry reading a book.

This book took me an embarrassingly long time to read. I read it, when I forgot to read earllier during the day or when I was just too tired or when I just did not want to do anything at all. This book was here for me and I read it. For a bit now, I was considering some day going to China, but I never really found a good reason why. This book is a pretty good reason. It is just an incredibly comforting and cozy book, I do not think I can actually say much more.
