this was so good and exactly what i needed, a funny, lighthearted, drama free novel. the mmc was a pure green flag, he was so obsessed with Lark but also respectful of her boundaries. i loved their relationship and the accidental pregnancy was handled really well

This book had me smiling from ear to ear. It’s sweet. It’s romantic. It’s a fun read for sure. I enjoyed every word.
Dan Montgomery, catcher for the Tridents
Nickname “Monty”
Star Wars fanatic - science geek
Best friends with Lark but secretly (or not so secretly) in love with her. His “Birdie.”
Lark Miller, trainer for the Tridents
Engaged to a wealthy guy she doesn’t really love.
Best friends with Dan.
Poor Monty:
“The only woman I want, the only one I’ve ever wanted, is marrying some other man.” Oh just give her time, buddy. She’ll come to her senses.
This book had me smiling from ear to ear. It’s sweet. It’s romantic. It’s a fun read for sure. I enjoyed every word.
Monty being a virgin added both sweetness and some humor to the story and Lark discovering her best friend should be THE ONE and then finding out she unexpectedly got pregnant their first night together worked beautifully into this story.
The Trident teammates were a great addition, showing Monty’s true friendship with them, plus his supportive parents were adorable. Lark’s friends were always there for support and her mom finally coming around was definitely a plus.
Easy to read in one day or evening, Lark and Monty are a match made in heaven.

Catching Her Heart
By Julia Jarrett
Overall Rating: ★★★★½ (4.5/5)
Full Review:
Julia Jarrett’s Catching Her Heart hit me right in the feels! This story follows Daniel "Monty" Montgomery, a professional baseball player with a heart as golden as his catching mitt, and Lark Miller, the Vancouver Tridents’ athletic trainer. Their chemistry has been simmering for years, but timing has always been their enemy. When Lark’s engagement to the snooze-fest that is Baron finally crumbles, Monty and Lark get their shot at a love that’s been years in the making.
Monty is everything you want in a romantic hero—sweet, respectful, and oh-so-patient. I melted when I found out about his skylark tattoo, a secret tribute to his unrequited feelings for Lark. Watching him take care of his parents and navigate his blossoming relationship with Lark made him feel so real and endearing. Oh, and did I mention he’s a virgin? His journey into intimacy with Lark was written beautifully, with a depth and vulnerability that’s rare to see in romance.
Lark’s arc was equally satisfying. Her journey from a controlled fiancée to a woman choosing her own happiness was empowering. While I was proud of her for ending things with Baron on her terms, I did feel like the sequencing of those events could have been smoother. For a while, I was left wondering how the news of the breakup reached everyone, but the later explanations tied up loose ends well enough.
The supporting characters added warmth and humor to the story—Yami, in particular, was a standout. His knack for picking up on Lark’s pregnancy before she even realized it was hilarious and heartwarming. (I need his story ASAP!) The reconciliation between Lark and her mom was another highlight. The raw and emotional apology had me tearing up, and it added a perfect layer of healing to Lark’s story.
I loved the intimate moments between Monty and Lark, and their connection felt genuine in every scene. The unexpected pregnancy and Monty’s over-the-moon reaction made me swoon. While it might not mirror real-life reactions, it was a feel-good moment I didn’t know I needed.
My only critique lies in the pacing of certain plot points, but overall, Catching Her Heart is a sweet, slow-burn romance that left me eager to dive into the rest of the series. Starting with book one is now officially on my TBR!
