This book is extremely fascinating. I learned something new in every chapter, and I found I was not grossed out or uncomfortable with anything except the sections on dead/decomposing bodies, which was an interesting discovery about myself. Not the eye worms, not the maggot farm, not rats in the attic, not any secretions or excretions, and not the fatbergs or psychopaths. Just dead bodies! Oh, and the head transplant. I guess my weakness is body "horror".
That aside, Gory Details is inexplicably inspiring and comforting. I felt so validated by the final chapter on misophonia.
BY FAR the creepiest part about this book revealed itself to me as I was lying in bed and wondering about the source of light emanating from my side table, only to realize the cover was glowing... very scary. I never expected the words on the cover and spine to glow and was genuinely scared before I figured it out. (Please no one tell me the book is not actually glow-in-the-dark, lol.)
Overall I really appreciate this book. It's a very accessible and interesting read.

I loved this book! One of my coworkers recommended it to me on audio. The reader was great, and the book itself was so fascinating. Be prepared to learn about a lot of gross stuff (bugs, ear wax, poop, etc.) I was also interested in the true crime chapters, and I got some ideas for murder mystery twists (although that kind of thing is certainly stranger than fiction!)
