This was super cool and fantastic art. Comparing it to their other team up, Snow, Apples, & Glass, I think the lighter subject of this short story set a great tone for the art. Definitely worth a read even if you have read the original short story. In the afterward, Doran describes how she originally conceived of the project as producing illuminated manuscripts but reeled back her medium when the costs became too great. Fortunately for us, her illuminated manuscript inspired loose watercolor is a wonderful substitute.

This was sweet, I guess. The art was nice. It left me feeling, like a lot of Gaiman does, that we only got a small piece of the story.

For a premise that seemed so promising this was beyond underwhelming. The art is fantastic and if I could give that 5 stars, I would but I just feel so utterly “meh” about the entire story. 70 some pages of not much happening.

I really loved the sweetness of this book. It was short but I loved it so much!
