A brilliant thriller. I didn't love the ending, but this was a solid book overall.

Half a star for the ending. It’s pretty clear King wrote this in 72 hours but what a cool concept and even better ending. As an anti authority guy, I love Richard’s although he certainly has his flaws. Like a lot of early King some stuff is too far. It’s no Long Walk but definitely one of the stronger Bachman books

Was this my favorite book? No
Would I read it a second time? Probably not
But the suspense is there and Stephen king’s writing style kept me going even when the story felt a bit boring. It want predictable and I like the direction it went in because the main character becoming a symbol for the people would have been weird tonally and the character winning would have seemed cliche.

I didn’t love or hate this book. It’s a little slow at parts for a short book, but it was enjoyable overall.
