I found out there was a lot I didn't know about the Lincoln assassination from this book and I enjoyed learning all these tidbits of history. The descriptions made the scenes come alive and the historical figures became real life, fleshed out people in my mind as I listened to the story unfold.
I listened to this on audio and Bill O'Reilly narrates it himself. I tolerated it, but I wish they had gotten someone else to do the narration. O'Reilly's voice works well for his pith commentating on TV but it's horrible for narrating a book. His emphatic diction and New York accent didn't fit the setting and historical nature of the work.
I'd recommend this book to people who enjoy learning about history, but it's probably much better to read it than to listen to it.

Well-written and informative. I'm always shocked by how much I don't know when it comes to historical events. O'Reilly does a good job of keeping the story moving an interesting.
4.5 Stars. I really enjoyed this book. I knew very little about Lincoln’s assassination before reading Killing Lincoln and was swept up in the tale. I wish there had been more about the end of the war—because i thought the authors did an especially good job with that part. But overall, it was a great read.
This was a very interesting book and I learned a lot. Before reading this, I knew a fair amount about Abraham Lincoln but not very much about how he was killed. Now, I feel much more knowledgeable about the subject.
I was amazed at how many coincidences happened (like Lincoln dying in a bed that Booth had slept in). I found it fascinating how all of the pieces fit together. Also, because of this book, I will forever wonder about those missing 18 pages of Booth's diary.
Overall, this was an intense book about a sad part of American history.
Four Stars.

Really, really good. Awesome account of a very great man. Loved it.
I know that Mr. O' Reilly isn't highly regarded but man, can he write a book! I personally found his biography to be full self centered but nevertheless, it didn't stop me from reading about one of the most fascinating events in history. The assassination of Abe Lincoln was explored in full detail with the plan, event, and what happened afterward. I learned things that I hadn't known from my Civil War or AP US History class by reading this book.
This was a well done chronology of the events surrounding Lincoln's death. Before listening to this narrative, I only knew J. W. Booth's name. Now, I have a much deeper appreciation of events and more importantly, their meaning and impact on our history.
