We meet Dr. Drew Devlin and his housewife, Fern, as they've just moved to Aberness, UK, which is North (near Scotland?). They are moving there from Manchester, a big city. Aberness is a very small beachside village. Drew convinced Fern to move there for the slower pace. Fern agrees, but both of them have ulterior motives. Drew wants to move here because his affair partner moved here months ago. His affair partner moved here. With her husband. I think both Fern and Drew are incredibly self absorbed, which means Hurst did a fantastic job crafting them. And yet, you root for Fern. This book is diabolical.

This is the first book I have read by Daniel Hurst, and I am not moved to try another. I found the writing painfully simplistic, the character development shallow and the story line unbelievable.

Not the best plot twist, pretty obvious imo. But I love Daniel Hurst’s writing so much. Easy, light reads that keep me wanting more and I love love love the suspense of his books

I devoured this! The plot was cleverly written and I was shocked at least twice with twists/reveals. Immediately starting #2. Couldn’t put this down. Very fast paced! High tension! No long winded confessions
