1.5 Stars. So glad that’s finally over! Unless you’re a biologist, geologist, or archeologist, I’m sure how one can enjoy this dull and unnecessarily over-descriptive “horror story.” But to each their own and a perfect example of how reading tastes and preferences are 100% subjective. #HPisNotForMe

I feel so stupid for barely understanding anything. For me it got so confusing and i felt so bored all the time while listening to it.
“It is absolutely necessary, for the peace and safety of mankind, that some of earth's dark, dead corners and unplumbed depths be left alone; lest sleeping abnormalities wake to resurgent life, and blasphemously surviving nightmares squirm and splash out of their black lairs to newer and wider conquests.”
Wonderful, just wonderful.

Graphic: Body horror, Death
An entire corpus of descriptions. Boring, exceptionally nerdy.
Otherwise, it's a good introduction to the Lovecraftian universe.
cf. Erich von Daeniken, without pretensions of being true.

Lovecraft could write, that's for sure, and there's more existential dread in a single paragraph of his than in any recent Stephen King. Even when the prose goes purple, the terror is still there.
80/100.
