this one made me shed real tears at least once.
Crazy ending - something completely out of the blue that changes an entire character and boggles the mind. Another good read though.
The one where Tobias finds out who his daddy is.
Solid entry with some tense moments. Plus the emotional ending.

Tobias said GAY RIGHTS !
Yet another in my reread that caught me off-guard by how sad and melancholy it was. Tobias gets a major lore bomb on his birthday, and has another existential crisis, though I hope he's found some resolution for it now because we simply cannot be having a suicidal hawk every time.
As a side note, I always believed that this was the first ghostwritten book in the series. It turns out, the ghostwriter credit is to Michael Grant, Applegate's husband who (uncredited) co-wrote all the stories with her. Who knew!

The Tobias books always go hard and heavy, and this one really fleshes out his character
This is the first one that made me tear up more than once. Poor Tobias.

The Solace: Oh, how my heart aches for Tobias. This story dives deeper into Tobias' feelings of love, more so his desire for but lack of feeling loved and his ability to put all of that aside when he needs to protect himself and his Animorph friends. The Yeerks and Visser Three are getting smarter and learning how to trick our Animorphs more. Lessons both the Animorphs and I have to learn - be even more suspicious now.
The Dread: This is the first time Tobias learns of his real father. This isn't the first time the audience learns, but it is the first for Tobias - something he should have grappled with more, if not in the room because his survival was on the line, but definitely later. I wanted to be on that journey with him and hug him.
Overall, I loved this incredibly heartbreaking story of Tobias.
