Can we talk about that incredible vintage romance- inspired cover?!

This was such a feel good read! When ‘The Little Mermaid’ meets ‘Luca’ (if Disney had been brave enough to give us a gay love story).

This was wonderfully whimsical, with a great balance between an engaging plot and swoon-worthy romantic fluff.
Athlen and Tal are the cutest and fleshed out which is not only enhances their romance but also the plot. Lukens doesn’t sacrifice their character development and the story in favour of the romance which is refreshing!
I am in love with all of the royal siblings, if this book got the Bridgeton treatment and each of them got their own book I would eat it up! The tease of a sleeping girl in Alemmeni and Garrett! Please! The sibling banter was hilarious, I caught myself laughing out loud serval times.
More people need to talk about this book?! I’ve already preordered ‘So This is Ever After’ and can’t wait!!

This book was amazing! I loved all the actions and the magic. My heart was literally in my throat for half of the time. There were a couple times when I thought the story was moving a bit quick but all in all it was a fantastic book.
I loved Tal and Athlen’s meeting, how mysterious Atheln was and how intrigued Tal was. I also loved how upset Tal was when Athlen disappeared, then his joy when he found him again.
The whole section where Tal was being imprisoned/forced to work by the pirates was well written, given the fact that I hated every second of it. I loved how kind and amazing Athlen was when helping Tal recover, as well as hoe helpful his friend was, even if she didn’t really trust Tal, she just wanted to help because Athlen was worried.

Tal is one dramatic boy, the whole “gotta get home, stop a war, yes i have magic and here’s my mermaid boyfriend” was hilarious. I loved the relationships he had with his mother, sister and brothers, as well as hoe they rested to him and Athlen. His feelings for Athlen and what he did to save everyone was just amazing and beautifully written.
