A good novel that has excellent characters. The book centers on the Connelly family. Geraldine is the oldest and also dealing with a hoarding problem, then Tara who just got out of prison after 18 months of serving a drug charge and Eddy who has been dealing with TBI from an accident as a child his father caused and is trying to be a single dad to Connor. This is all complicated by the officer who put Tara in jail who has developed feelings for her. Throughout the novel you discover a family love and devotion as well as lots of secrets. Tara went to jail to cover for Eddy who was running drugs to earn money. Geraldine is confronting being forced to grow up so quickly when her mother died and their father abandoned them. She makes some bad choices when she doesn't confront her anxiety and ends up putting the company she works for in trouble. Tara almost decides to take the blame but then through the help of her family and new office friend she decides to help Geraldine tell the truth. The novel wasn't as gripping as the Brennans but was still a nice read.

The author does a really good job at showing how family roles can be destructive even when intentions are good. The mystery / suspense of it was lacking for me but I really enjoyed understanding each character’s pov & beliefs behind their choices.
