The Full cast audio was excellent with sound effects and great acting. The plot moves quickly with the nature of how information is shared. Definitely riveting and well described, could easily see this a cinematic adaptation.

Illuminae was really a 4.5, but I didn't have the heart to give it a 4 star marking.

Well, for once in a seemingly long while, I've finally read a truly engrossing book! The format was interesting and creative, the worldbuilding was well-said without hitting the reader over the head to catch up with technology or anything, and I physically covered my mouth in anxiety and anticipation about 3/5 in.
My only problems with this book can be dealt with, especially with the format. What was the company that owned Kerenza? That name was not said nearly enough. Also, I wish Ezra would have had more character development, but I know you could only do so much with that format, so I'll wait for the next book for that. Another thing would be some more descriptors of the characters. That would have been great to see what could have been done with that in the security footage sections.
Overall, this book really grabbed my attention! I'm really glad that I got to read it.

I read the ebook and it could be the version I have, but some of the text was extremely difficult to read because it was so small and I for whatever reason could not enlarge it, so there were several things that I just skipped over and hoped it would make sense when I got to the next section.  Otherwise this was a really good book.  Can't wait to read the next one.

I loved the unique formatting of this book and the audiobook was very well cast.

But that Ezra twist though

if i’m totally honest, i did NOT expect to like this book. i actually dnf’ed it on my first read about a year ago, though i don’t think i even made it past 100 pages.

the way this book was set up left a lot to be desired for the characterization of ezra and kady (though i did really enjoy them both). the unique format was super entertaining, if a little annoying at times, and it’s genuinely suspenseful. i never knew what was going to happen next, and i got surprised more than once, which doesn’t usually happen.

i think the thing i enjoyed most about this book is the way it portrayed the other, ‘unimportant’ characters in the book. the book made you care about characters that would otherwise be forgotten. the way AIDAN describes them, their families and loved ones, and everything they’re working towards, actually really hurt me. near the start of the book, there’s a couple pages showing faces of the victims of the initial attack, and i actually had to stop and just stare at it for a second. it made it feel so much more real, and really made me think about the unnamed, unimportant victims. they all had families and friends and aspirations and then they were just gone, and no one really cared except their loved ones. kinda reminds me of this year and dealing with covid,,

whoops this review ended up being dark. anyway i enjoyed this book and i hope kady and ezra get better characterization in the next book

Great book, different from others that I have read. The way the story is told in a different way than basically every other story, a series of documents strung together to tell a fantastic Sci-Fi mystery.
