What a fun way to structure a book. But hate that her name was Kady and not proper Katie.

A re-read for me (third time I think?) and I remember why this series is worth it. Any story that can can be told as well as this book did without traditional structure is brilliant in my eyes.

I'm actually shocked I finished this book. I was strongly considering just putting it as DNF.

I actually liked most of the characters except for Kady. I don't know what it is about her but I just did not like her at all. I thought she was annoying af. How anyone could fall in love with her or why is a mystery to me. I think if they just killed her off or deleted her entirely and put another male character (who imo were a lot more interesting and likable) in her place I would have enjoyed it a lot more.

Whenever I read these YA books with a "strong" female protagonist all i ever imagine is Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss. Am I the only one??? I think of every book I've read in this genre and I swear it's like they're all the same. They're just different shade of Katniss Everdeen. Who knows? Maybe it's just me.

I think though, I'll end up reading the entire series. I want to know how it all goes for Ezra and Aiden. Honestly, I hope there's a lot less of Kady in the future books but if that isn't the case (and why would it be) I hope she's a lot less annoying.

The format of this book is definitely an interesting one. It’s a compilation of files sent by the Illuminae group to BeiTech. The plot is really interesting, it is a sci-fi book and it does not disappoint. The only thing that ruined the experience for me was the sideways words and all those curved ones. Kady is also a strong female protagonist. You would think that a book with such a format will make you lose touch with the characters but you still feel for them.

SPOILERY DISCUSSION

SpoilerKady is such a badass. I really admire that she can literally overwrite almost everything.

Is the AI in love with Kady?! What the heck?

Everyone is literally dying and it just keeps going happening.

I can’t believe Ezra died in the attack? (HAHA I did find out later that he wasn’t actually dead )

For some reason, this book was particularly heavy?

I can’t believe the director of BeiTech is Ezra’s mother ?! Now I’m really worried about the safety of Ezra and Kady in the next book.

Speaking of which I am excited for Gemina!

That’s all I have to say. Feel free to approach me and talk to me !
