There were some parts of this I really, really enjoyed. Ezra was a fantastically fun character that we sadly didn't get enough of in the second half of the book. I loved how the authors had me hating AIDAN at the start and yet by the end I found him (it?) legitimately sympathetic by the end. I liked how they manged to make you care about side characters and their fates, despite the hinderance of the format.

Boy, did I hate the format. I get that it's part of the reason people liked it so much when it first came out, but it was awkward, annoying, and kept you at a distance from the characters. I also really disliked Kady. I should have know, this being YA, that the hero would be a plucky teen girl who just happened to be amazing at everything and have everyone, insane AI included, fall in love with her.

I can't believe a book written in the way this book is could be so perfect. It's so damn unique. I was at the edge of my seat the whole time reading this, what an experience.

If you like:
-Teenage Moral Conviction
-Hacktivism
-Space Wars
-Space zombies
-Conspiracy Theories

Then this is the book for you!

I had a lot of fun with this book and writing style. I'll definitely be picking up the second. It took a little while to become truly compelling but the second half of the book I emitted audible gasps and "NO!"'s and a variety of emotional displays (if I point out that I'm purposely avoiding saying I cried, does it make you believe it more?)

I'm nervous to pick up the second because my imagination has difficulty drafting how you follow such an action packed adventure as we dive into the conspiracy parts, but I'm going to find out anyway.

woah there. this was INTENSE with a capital I, N, T, E, N...well, you get the picture. I loved the writing style, how it was a series of files, IMs, emails, and medical debriefings. However, this caused me to feel somewhat detached from the characters.

Holy shit. How has it taken me this long to read this?! I am OBSESSED.

So much to unpack from that. RIP Jimmy. RIP Chatter. Fucking AIDAN. I hated it and then I didn't hate it and then I sorta liked it and now I fucking love it? HOW, Jay? HOW DO YOU DO THIS?!

I swear, I thought Ezra was really dead. I thought Kady was gonna die. I thought the two heroes of this book were really gonna snuff it. BUT NO. The twists were delicious.

The format was also a delightful change of typical prose. I thought I would hate it but I thoroughly loved it. Oh, and the twist of the big bad leader of BeiTech being Ezra's mom is FANTASTIC. And I love that it sounds like AIDAN is being rebuilt to be on Kady's side or whatever you wanna call it. I'm addicted to this series now and am immediately starting the second book.

I am in shambles.
