Not at all my cup of tea. I was interested at first because we were going to get an inside scoop on the therapy sessions but still, not worth it. It’s a quick read so I gave it 2 stars. But has it been one more chapter, I would’ve DNF. I basically did DNF for a month and pushed myself to finish. Very boring and stale, tad bit repetitive. No sense of self or growth. The most creative thing about this book is the title.
Graphic: Mental illness
Moderate: Emotional abuse
Minor: Alcohol
Really wanted to like this but it seemed very surface level. Interesting concept though

Transcriptions of therapy sessions with their psychiatrist. Honestly very brave of them to have this published so that’s likely a sign of progress in terms of dealing with negative emotions and thoughts. Resonated with a bunch of lines here and I appreciate the short summary at the end of each chapter about what they’ve learned from the session and how they intend to move forward having had such realizations. I wouldn’t count it as part self-help as the blurb at the back says, it doesn’t instruct you to do certain things. I feel its definitely full memoir—you gain insight to a person’s inner thoughts and glimpses of their everyday life. If you gain something from it, that’s great! If you don’t, that’s fine too. Read if you want to see how some therapy sessions go.
