the art style wasnt my favourite and it took getting used to but i thought this was actually quite good. i assume Sattouf is quite detached from his arab side and doesnt relate to it much, maybe even feels ashamed/embarrassed by it, from the way he writes and perceives some things in the book. overall i found it quite insightful and funny at points.

This graphic memoir of little Riad and his somewhat odd parents as they move from Libya to France to Syria is both horrifying and hilarious.
