💬 My Bookish Thoughts
One of the highlights of my year is watching The Great Pottery Throw Down with my husband, and I’ve always loved collecting ceramics, so the title grabbed me straight away.

This story of Jungmin coming out of hibernation after burnout and gently reshaping her life through the healing power of clay and community is an absolute joy — I loved every single page. It’s a warm, lingering hug of a book with a cast of gorgeous characters I’d love to call my own, and a community that you can’t help but envy and crave. Gisik and Johee completely stole my heart — you’ll see why when you read it 😙

Since starting my Bookstagram, I’ve been lucky to discover some amazing translated fiction, and this is up there with my favourites. I’m fast becoming a huge Korean fiction fan — I don’t want to tempt fate, but everything I’ve read so far has blown me away, and I’m hungry for more!

This one’s earned its spot in my "Comfort Reads" shelf in my Wellbeing Toolkit. I know I’ll return to it again in the future. If you’re looking for a book that feels like a lasting hug, I honestly can’t recommend this one enough.

🙏🏼 Huge thanks to @netgalley, @penguinukbooks @vikingbooksuk and Yeon Somin for the gifted digital copy in exchange for my honest review.

The beginning was a little rough. The author wanted to allude to an event in the main characters life without going into detail, which made the narrative confusing. But as you get further and further into the book, the tone becomes more polished and the plot more interesting. There are also many nuggets of truth throughout, which is the highlight of any healing novel.

Topically it was fine to read but i really couldn't get into the perspective it was written from. It felt too fast paced and not well explained at points because of the all-knowing narrator. I couldn't really understand why the characters developed how they did, it progressed too quickly in that sense.
