Pipe Dreams 04/02-04/03
Overall: 2

This was just not for me. I found myself having a hard time caring about either of the MCs or their motivations for literally any of the choices they made. The chemistry wasn’t there.

Audiobook: 5/5
Spice: 2 - open door, explicit language

I think this is my favorite in the series so far. While also a second-chance book like the first one, the male love interest is also a widow and single father and it focuses on how a second-chance romance blossoms with that as well.

Lauren is too good for Mike and he didn’t have to work nearly hard enough to get her back. Gina Denny says the stupid decisions of characters make for great stories. This was not that… They both suck at considering Mike’s daughter in their decisions. It was impossible to root for them until the end of the book.

Main: Mike and Lauren
Plot: she is an assistant for the owner of the hockey team and he is the goalie raising his daughter from a high school marriage that ended when his wife cheated. He dates Lauren when he splits from his wife and when she gets sick he goes back to the wife just to take care of her and appease his daughter. She starts to hate things she loved like hockey doesn’t make connections and then they reconnect and he tries to get her back. But his daughter thinks that Lauren is the reason her parents broke up so she is in the way. Lauren wants to have a baby and he wants one with her. I don’t think this was the bestttt book but not bad!

I had a hard time getting on team Lauren after thinking poorly of her in the earlier Brooklyn Bruiser books. Meh. Not my favorite.
