I was hooked from the very beginning. The setting at Oxford was absolutely perfect.
The chemistry between Ella and Jamie from their first meeting had me swooning and kicking my feet.
I really loved Ella’s character. She’s smart, grounded, and made choices I could see myself making.
Her friends were the perfect addition; I adored them like they were my own.

Then came the third part of the book… I started crying and I don’t think I stopped. I’m talking full-on ugly crying, bawling my eyes out.
I went in blind. I didn’t read the blurb or anything. I just knew it was a romance set in Oxford (and that there was a film adaptation I wanted to watch after reading this book).
I’m not sure if that was a mistake or a blessing, because while it is a beautiful love story, the happy ending might not be the one you’re expecting..
And at the end of the day, I have to agree with Ella and Jamie: “In death, love is all there is.”

very surprising turn. I thought this would be a light fun read. it was unexpectedly more than that.

I listened to My Oxford Year and then watched the new Netflix movie and I was SO upset by the movie doing Jamie dirty until I found out that the book is actually based on the screenplay not the other way around so while the movie does do Jamie dirty, Whelan, fixed it. So of course, overall, the book is so much better than the movie. The book has more time to build up and explain everything and I like the situations/circumstances better. I loved the book and now that I can separate the book and movie the movie wasn’t bad but it is NOT a romantic comedy. This book/movie gave me major You Before Me vibes so you have been warned!! The book is about Ella (from Ohio) who wins a Rhodes Scholarship to study at Oxford for a year and meets and falls for her professor Jamie. I actually visited Oxford back in 2012 so it was fun to read and watch about it!

Sehr überraschend, einfach zu lesen.
Keine großen Auffälligkeiten im Schreibstil.
Anfangs eher nicht 100% mein Ding, hat sich aber gut entwickelt.
Ein Ende mit dem ich zufrieden bin.
