I got about 30% into this book and just wasn’t having a good enough time to justify continuing. I wasn’t really into the characters—the main characters were pretty dull (or bordering on annoying) and the side characters felt like caricatures instead of people. The writing was very choppy and almost disjointed, which just didn’t click with me. And then it got to a point where I felt like it was just a mashup of tropes and cliches instead of an actual book with a plot. I’m gonna watch the movie and see if I eventually want to come back to the book, but I was not feeling it for now.
