I enjoyed the story a lot but it honestly might be the worst audiobook I've ever listened to. Which is mad because Julia Whelan is literally a narrator. Sorry babe but someone needs to have a word with you and explain that is not what English (or Scottish oh my god) people sound like 😂

It was fun to take a jaunt to England through this story! It didn’t feel revolutionary & I imagine I’ll forget much of it, but I was intrigued to read about the life of academia & all things Oxford (and I want to watch the movie).

The friendships, however, felt a bit two-dimensional, the main character, Ella, often seemed to think that things revolved around her/her knowing something/her being kept in the loop about things that weren’t necessarily her business, etc. and her relationship with Jamie started so fast and was built on a house of sticks (to start with). Again, nothing new in this story, but not unenjoyable!
