Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers Unleashed
4/5 stars

This was weird. But that's okay cause I figured it would be. I liked the plot when children were brought to create the world and the kids who want to stay. I think that could've been explored so much more.

The rest was cute but kind of a hot mess which kept me from going higher with my rating.

The Characters

Like with most things, the characters were my favorite part of this.

Damiella-
This majestic gorgeous lady was the whole reason I bought this trade in the first place. She says my favorite quote in this and defended that little girl like nobody's business.

Hairball 2-
Her yeti boyfriend! I loved him.

Ms. Lion-
She surprisingly turned out to be my favorite character, she's so precious and pure and innocent.

Frog Thor-
Was super endearing and intelligent and I loved the Thor cameo with him.

I thought there'd be more Lockjaw in this based off the title so I didn't really connect to him like I hoped I would.

Overall:
Cute and the places where the plot is well put together was amazing and I just wished it kept that way all the way through.

There was just so much joy and humour in this that I had a grin through most of the way through, especially when it came to the dynamics of one snarky cat, Hairball, and the very helpful, good boi, dog Ms Lion. Hairball is a total embodiment of a cat who tries to blame everything on the dog and accepts it with poor grace when dog's simple logic wins through. Yet the cat is so cute in his little huffy moments you can't feel irritated at him. A link to the two characters bios have been added to the bottom of this review.

There are also moments of tense adventure and emotional drama further in the book, especially as we get to the apex point of the confrontation with the storyline's big bad and resolution to both the physical danger and some of emotional existential worries brought up for our wee frog Thor character (who very appealingly reminded me of Kermit, if Kermit got Thor's hammer powers).

The graphics were a perfect match for the bright witty assuredness of the text. The colouring is confident and strong and the depiction of the animals is absolutely expressive.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get the image embedding to work so instead here is a link to one of my favourite scenes, when the Pet Avengers surprise a poor ordinary frog as they try to get a lead to where Frog Thor might be.
