I loved this book. Even tho as a non-native speaker at the beginning was HARD lol.
I laughed and cried while enjoying it.
This is my first US-Classic and I'm grateful books like this exists.
Scout is such a great lead character and I wished I had a father like her.
Totally recommend this if you want a profound reading.

Always one one my favorite books (forced to read in school). Such visual, sensory storytelling... the first of its kind for me. Some day I'll pick it back up and read again, see if it holds up. I'm sure it will.....

We had to read the book for school and we watched the film earlier. First, it’s astonishing and real great to see how much effort there has been put into the character‘s traits in contrast to the film.
I found the first part incredibly boring up until close to the trial. Then I liked reading it.
Although as a non-native speaker the dialect can sometimes be hard to understand, I liked the overall experience.
Especially the fact the prejudice of most people was highlighted.

I usually struggle with US-based "classics" but have to admit that this book deserves all the praise. Beautifully written, tense, deeply lived through, emotional. The portrayal is very much of its time, although I have to admit that I struggled a little bit with some of the implicit misogyny. It also felt like both child protagonists should have been much older, as their age and thinking process/chosen language did not always reflect their actual age. But overall a very good piece of literature.
