TW: Modern day British cozy murder mystery, there are murders and gun violence, no graphic details. Law enforcement is shown in a positive light.
Although I haven't read the first book of the series yet, it isn't to hard to get up to speed with the main characters. Penny's story is still a mystery to me.
I have enjoyed Mr Osman when I've caught him on QI, WILTY, and HIGNFY, so I like his sense of humour. It might not be everyone's cuppa. A working knowledge of current British culture
The characters are fun and interesting. Even Connie Johnson. The author handles issues seniors have with sensitivity and humour. There is some diversity but the story is mainly told in a white cis voice. For a book of its genre the characters are decently developed.
The plot twist in the end was well done. I enjoyed this as a nice quick summer read.

Well I officially adore this series and enjoyed this one even more than the first! I found the mystery easier to follow and I loved returning to these endearing characters. I love the small, sweet moments between these friends and I welled up at the ending. 🥹 Joyce's parts are always the best but her joining Instagram and rescuing a dog were just perfect. To make a murder mystery so clever, comedic and sweet takes real skill in my opinion and it is well achieved in these books. Looking forward to the next one!
