Every bit as good as the first in the series. Full of laughs, simply love the characters and their ways of solving crimes. The crimes will keep you guessing right to the very end. At no point did the plot feel remotely like it was dragging, nor was it particularly predictable. As with TTMC, there were a few moments where the insightful comments on loneliness hit surprisingly hard, but within seconds you can be laughing out loud again. It's so nice to read a book that just makes you feel happy. Can't wait to read the next.

i absolutely love this series. my god. richard osman reminds me of fredrick backman in how clever and emotional his writing is, but osman is less repetitive. which i appreciate. i’m absolutely obsessed with the sense of humor in this series. the dialogue is some of my favorite i’ve read. witty, funny, heart warming, characters jumping off the page. also LOVE the audiobooks for these. the narrator is perfect for the role.

in this book, the thursday murder club (elizabeth, joyce, ron, and ibrahim) return soon after they solved the murders from the first book. elizabeth’s ex husband (also a secret agent) shows up and tells her he’s in a bit of hot water and needs her help. basically, he’s stolen 20 million worth of diamonds from some middle man for crime syndicates that was holding the diamonds for the New Jersey mafia.  so he’s got a bunch of people out to kill him and he wants elizabeth (and the thursday murder club of course) to keep an eye on him. well things quickly go awry (with the murder of douglas and others) and so it’s up to them to figure it out. another story line here is ibrahim is assaulted by some little shit from the neighborhood and so TTMC has to make sure he gets what’s coming too. donna and chris (the 2 police) are also back, chris still dating donna’s mom. they’re also great. they have a big drug dealer they need to catch, who also gets looped into this mess. and lastly,
there’s bogdan (who ended up becoming the builder to finish coopers chase development in the first book). bogdan might be the best character. no no i can’t say that. it’s gotta be joyce. but still bogdan is top notch muscle character. him and donna also might like each other. 👀 oh also are joyce and ibrahim gonna start something?? 👀

better than the first book. there was no lull in the middle - though i admit, the lull i felt in the middle of book 1 may just have been me slumping. i thought the crime and the twists were more interesting. i loved the further development of all the characters introduced in book 1. just loved everything about it.

can osman write these books forever? i’m kind of scared to get to book 4 because the internet is saying it’s devastating.
