Short, smart stimulus for the mind.

Backstories is a unique set of short stories that will have you really thinking. As the reader you become the detective, working out who is actually the protagonists for these tales.

I found myself whole heartedly engaged and I will admit to hitting Google to try and help me come up with the answers.

This is a book, that although short you can read multiple times and gain more answers with each read.

This has been the most fun read! Not only have I enjoyed it, but Iv spent more time with the hubster.... this is us reading a couple of chapters together, Im reading, he's googling!

So each short story is the voice of a character well known to the world. Each voice is captured brilliantly I must say.

I figured most out, but was very surprised with a couple after looking them up on the internet.

Honestly, I loved the guessing game, and the different styles of writing for each voice.

The best idea! This book is out now, to buy on Amazon

An enjoyable collection of short stories.

I won’t lie, I didn’t manage to work out who some of the people were but I definitely enjoyed reading each of the stories.
Some were more enjoyable than others but all were well written and interesting.

What a great way to write a book.

Each chapter of Backstories is a short story laced with subtle clues as to who the main character in that story may be. I surprised myself with how many characters I was able to successfully guess; some I guessed early on, and some become increasingly obvious as the chapter came to a close. That said, there were still a few I didn’t know- and consequently I found those chapters less enjoyable.

It becomes addictive reading; once I successfully guessed who was the subject of a chapter it was a case of “just one more chapter” until i finished the whole book in one sitting.

Bravo, Van Der Velde. This is a truly original and enjoyable concept for a book.
