The Mixtape

Brittainy C. Cherry

Don’t miss out!

This book is phenomenal! It covers everyday life issues, and makes you think, and be thankful and embrace all that you are. The book started off slow for me and I almost returned it and I am so glad I didn’t.

Talk about a love story, love was shown between two brothers, two sisters, parents (his, not hers), neighbors, a little girl who just by her words helped adults see that everything is going to be okay!

As I was reading, I started thinking about my “mixtape” and I can honestly say it brought tears to my eyes, and you get an HEA!

Ms Brittainy Cherry, you did the doggone thang.

Very deep topics such as death, grief, rape, hypocritical religious fanatics…but also the power of music to help heal and the idea of found families and finding one’s self.

Oliver Smith, step into my office! You have been promoted. You are now an elite book boyfriend! LOL! This book was so good. I laughed and felt for these characters like no other! Emery was such a better person than I ever could be…the pain and hardships she went thru at such a young age! Oliver’s healing journey was so real and raw. I couldn’t imagine going through what he did. This book made me call my sister and tell her I loved her! Without giving too many spoilers I’m glad the character who needed the most help got it and the ones who needed to be cursed out got no retribution arc because they most certainly did not deserve it!

I do have a heart!!

There was absolutely no reason for this book to hit as hard as it did. Two opposite, yet parallel hard AF situations and it turns out with the best case scenario. It’s beautiful. The characters, the spice was tasteful especially considering the context and just ugh so many tears I didn’t expect to shed in every color of emotion. I also plan on looking up every song recommendation in this book.

Emery and Oliver

I really enjoyed their story and the emotional journey you experienced while reading. My heart felt for Oliver and he ended up in the right place at the right time. Emery was down on her luck, but she was determined to make it for the sake of her baby. I’m happy they found each other and stood by each other side. It was not easy, they had some ups and downs. Love won though. Definitely recommend.

3.5 this reminds me of the fanfics I used to read. Cute book

Absolutely loved this book. My only issue was not witnessing the comeuppance of the characters I hated. I wanted to read about them getting consequences for their actions.
