I LOVED this book! Did not want to put it down. I love stories when it isn’t just about the love, it’s about the drama and trauma the characters individually go through. They both had their own stories and I felt it with them.
I guessed the little twist that it had of Reese not being Emery’s. Only because of a comment Oliver made about her looking like Emery and it made her sad. And having the flashback of Oliver and Alex meeting a pregnant woman and sister I immediately knew it wasn’t emery that was pregnant. If I didn’t guess it the shock factor would have been wow and made it a 5 star to be honest.
Nonetheless, I absolutely loved loved this book as I do with all of this authors books.

This hit harder then I was expecting.
“Every person in this world has a mixtape of sorts, a collection of tracks that defines their lives. Each memory is a song, and they all come together to create a masterpiece.”
-Abigail
Between the way the characters let music be their voice and the feelings of wanting to be loved by family, this made me feel like someone gets me. Such a strong story and a great way to tackle feelings and social media trolls. Everyone needs an Abigail in their lives. Some of her quotes have been saved to read when my feelings are too much.
How Oliver and Emery were able to rise out of their darkest times is beautiful. Just being in your feelings can be rough. You are your own worst enemy, and that sucks when you have no one to snap you out of it. No one to remind you of how wonderful and important you are. Then we have social media. Keyboard warriors can make you hide under a rock because you let them make your already defeated feelings seem real. If others say out loud what you are feeling, it must be true. Right? Finding the right people who will lift you up, stand with you on good days and bad, those are your family. Those are the ones that you take advise from and listen to. Not the ones that only judge you on your post or what others have said about you.
How these two bonded over music is wonderful. Music is so strong. It can pump you up, calm you down, let you get lost in emotion, or just put a smile on your face. Being able to express their thoughts and feelings with songs because they didn’t have the courage to find words on their own was touching and beautiful. This was something I felt in my soul.

This is Oliver and Emery's story, a rockstar and a single mom. Oliver struggles with the loss of his twin and bandmember, he meets bartender Emery and their story begins. I liked the real struggles and how the author wrote them, this story is deep and has some trigger warnings. The emotional ride was intense and heartbreaking at some points. Definitely not the usual rockstar romance, but it has some funny sides, plus Reese, Emery's daughter, is a fantastic character.

Here we are again with me forgetting everything I thought about this book. I really need to get into the habit of writing my reviews as soon as I finish reading something or at least jotting down some notes. This book deals with some tough topics. death of a loved one, family drama and rape just to name a few so if you are easily triggered, I definitely recommend looking into triggers before picking this one up. I loved the romance in this one. You hate the characters you're supposed to hate and love the ones you are meant to love. The 5-year-old stole the show for me. She was just so adorable. There was a reveal toward the end that I totally didn't see coming. We were so close to not having a 3rd act break up but unfortunately there was one, but I think it could have been done better. I can definitely see myself reading more by this author.
I rarely give 5 stars or a review. This book was enough for me to do both. One key take away- hope. Never lose hope. I was completely taken with each character of this story. I fell in love with the main characters. I cried like a baby. It hits all the “things” for me. If you’re looking for a captivating, emotional, relatable read- this is it.
This book was absolutely gut-wrenching. There were so many times throughout that I said WTF out loud. From the trauma that Oliver went through to the abuse that Emery suffered, this story was an emotional rollercoaster. There was plenty of light along the way though, like the way Oliver and Emery healed each other. I also loved Reese and how fun she was and the beautiful light that she brought to this story.
