I expected to be focused on the romance of this book, but honestly, Reese was my favorite character. The plot twist surrounding Emery’s family was so captivating. I liked Oliver as a character, and I appreciate how life altering it would be to lose your twin (the mirror thing was a great detail on the author’s part). And I like the romance subplot. But I didn’t love it. What I loved was Emery getting the chance to follow her passions while being the best mom she could for her daughter. As a mom, I know just how freeing it would be if money weren’t an issue - if I could follow my dream and know that my child wouldn’t suffer.

A beautiful love story filled with plot twists and great messages. Loved it .

KU. 3.5 stars. A heartfelt, emotional read. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, but don’t feel like it was anything spectacular afterwards.

This is an emotional story about overcoming generational trauma, grief, loss and sexual assault. It is also about finding light in the darkness that life can throw at us and finding love through everything mentioned.
But overall, there is something I did not entirely like/enjoy about this one that I can not put my finger on. I felt like in certain areas it dragged along and there are certain parts that could have used more explanation that were left to our own interpretation I guess. The way music was mixed into this was a sweet touch and I can see that being a reason music lovers pick this one up.
