The Mixtape

“Yeah, he’s Oliver Mith, and he’s my friend!”

That was my mood throughout the whole book because Oliver is amazing in every way... Especially the broken bits.

The plot was well thought out and it covered diverse topics like grief, depression, rape and toxicity in religion.

Resse was an absolutely adorable child and Emery was such a strong character. But her reaction after she found that huge envelope on her doorstep dissapointed me to the core.....

This book was proof of what an amazing author Brittainy is.

Music of the heart

I didn't know what to expect when starting this book, but I really enjoyed it, it's ups and downs, twists and turns and especially all the musical references. I'm not sure how it will age but it is great in the moment. It also dealt with real issues, others have commented that for it being a love story it dealt with too many heavy issues, but that is life, not all sunshines and rainbows.

I just loved it!

3.5 stars. The saving grace was Reese, but there was just so much going on that the romance fell a little short. When the romance did happen though, it was super awkwardly written. Overall, I really enjoyed the story itself and would have given this 5 stars if it would have been written better, but ultimately the unnatural dialogue made this one pretty "meh" for me.
