WOOO
This book solidified how I’m taking on 2020 and the rest of my lives! Very fun, laughed out loud, she ain’t wrong, inspiring, honest, brutal—I learned, reflected and realized me/them/us/not us.

3.5. A comedic and digestible look at the way romance rules our lives. Happy to see the diversity of sources it references (A Lover's Discourse, I Love Dick, Sex and the City) but it's a little 101, which is fine!
While there were moments where this book delighted me and made me laugh out loud – overall it was overwhelmingly average (much like the white, straight, cisgender men much of the book bemoans).
It was funny, but not what I thought it would be. This book was essentially the author retelling silly date mistakes and awkward encounters with men, when she had never even had a boyfriend. I picked it up hoping it would be insightful, it wasn’t really. I did laugh though!

Well, it took me quite some time but I finally finished this! The reason it took so long was because I decided "wouldn't it be fun to read this out loud?" And it was. But also time-consuming and hell on my voice. The things we do for entertainment.
That being said, I loved it. Underlined/marked A LOT of passages and intend to return to it someday (reading silently) to appreciate it all over again.
Lots of fun, tongue-in-cheek moments and a fun read for someone who's chronically single (and hoping to change that when, like, the pandemic is over?).
