Reminiscent of the Barsoom series, with a bit more weird science fantasy. Glad to have finally read it.

Yes, reminded me of Edgar Rice Burroughs!

Classic science fiction in all its splendor: Interesting ideas, fairly good yarn, correct grammar, and stylistic wood.

This was cool, very retro in a Burroughs-esque sci-fi/fantasy mashup kind of way. Pretty light on characterization, heavy on world building and about medium on action. I guess there are more books in the series, but I probably won't get to them, just too many other books out there that I might love.

Not my favorite of his (those being the Demon Prince novels). Just...so much boring sexism. Blah. Female character is ONLY an object and it's super over the top. Couldn't get on board.

Got this book in my teens from a friend of my family, and I remember really loving it. That friend died recently and it made me reminisce about this book again, so I decided to go back to it. I had expected it to not hold up, but it really does. A fun, pulpy adventure that caught my imagination wonderfully. I'm hyped for the next three in this series.
