Some scenes and characters come to life clearly. But then there is the weird, stalker bad guy who still feels iunknowable after reading the other seven books in this series.

To be fair, I hadn't read any of the previous Frieda Klein novels so perhaps was missing some of the story but just didn't enjoy this as much as I've enjoyed other Nicci French novels
