Not to be That Guy, but...15 years before he wrote this book - where Jessica Fletcher firmly and repeatedly states that ghosts arent real - Donald Bain wrote Trick Or Treachery, in which Jessica sees, talks to, and verbally affirms a real live ghost! This means ghosts are canonically possible and sometimes real in Cabot Cove - as verbally confirmed by Jessica Fletcher herself. So why, 15 years later, does Jessica pretend she's never had an encounter? What is she afraid of? If she's worried about disbelief or public humiliation, should we as the audience of her first person narrative not hear about it and sympathize? Is this repression an allusion to her struggle to process the existance of ghosts as a woman who otherwise prides herself on rationality? Why leave that struggle unspoken when every other detail is repeated ad-naseum throughout the book? Why then have her think she DOES see a ghost at the very last moment of the book? Will Elliot ever get a therapist? Mr. Bain you owe me some fucking answers!

Another fun, cozy mystery with Jessica Fletcher investigating the death of an old friend who predicted his own demise. Can Jessica find out the truth before the killer catches her too?

3.5 This was a fun (on the shorter end) read that had more substance than usual in a MSW book. I did find the "wrap up" too quick and unsatisfying, but enjoyed the events leading up to the "whodunnit".

I love the show so it was easy to be absorbed into the book! I read it in 2 sittings!

I love MSW- so I'm a little pained to rate this installment 3 stars. It was enjoyable but not as fast paced as they usually are. It was EXACTLY what I needed though- light (but smart).

this is a fun MSW book. there was some surprising, weird humor (something like Cecil eating french fries). I love the concept that the characters have continued on after the TV series ended, with JB Fletcher moving back to Cabot Cove. it's really not quite the same as Angela Lansbury, but I wouldn't even expect it to be. I also enjoyed the little Halloween bits and the whimsy in the idea of everyone in Cabot Cove gossiping about ghosts (+ Mrs. Fletcher with an actual ghost).
