the writing style wasn’t really ideal, however if you just lean into the cringe, it helps. it’s v how a teenager would talk in like 2003. but the style changes in the second book so i like that better. - still reading the series 😂

Mekhi a ti te quiero mucho

In my opinion this series gets better with each new book added! I do like a lot of things about where it started in Crave, but Crave ended up being my least favourite by the time I finished the series.

Things I Enjoyed:

- The Setting: I really loved the idea for a school for all kinds of supernaturals, not just magical people. I also loved the Alaskan setting and the scene with the Northern Lights stuck with me as one of the cutest moments in the series!

- Grace’s POV: Grace goes through crazy amounts of character development by the end of the series, and starting out in Crave Grace is a “weak” normal girl. She’s deeply lost in depression, anxiety, and grief for her two recently dead parents. I could really relate to the descriptions of Grace’s anxiety spirals, I had them badly as a teenager too. I thought Grace in this book was naive and sometimes slightly cringy, but also sweet, cute, and funny. Overall she felt like a realistic teenage girl to me, and maybe even one I would have been friends with if I knew her as a teenager.

- The Plot: The book is long, maybe even a little bit too long because there is a lot of silly and cute fluff scenes (which I didn’t mind) but I thought the main plot was really engaging and intriguing. The climax is extremely exciting, especially for the first book in a series, and damn that cliffhanger sent me running for the sequel!

Things I Didn’t Love:

- Jaxon — sorry! I was really not into him as a person or as a love interest. I was Team Flint in this book, but moved on in the next book lol (iykyk). I was pitched this series by someone recommending it to me because of my love for Damon Salvatore (books & show), and I figured out that wasn’t because of Jaxon pretty early on.

- So Many Minor Characters: I had a hard time over the course of this series keeping up with the characters because each book introduces so many new ones that I basically gave up on remembering the names of anyone except Grace, her love interests, Macy, and Heather. Though Mekhi, a vampire character in this one, ends up important to later books so I will add him to the list of characters in this book worth remembering lol. This book alone already had too many characters for me to remember, and it just gets worse with each book lol. For a reread I either need notes or to use the wiki!

I think I would recommend giving this series a try to anyone who loves: Twilight, ACOTAR, The Vampire Diaries, and Harry Potter because those really felt like they each inspired a portion of this series.

I enjoyed this one. I didn't think i would because it's not in my realm of what I like, but maybe I've tapped into a new genre that I'll enjoy...
