These are some of the best books I’ve read in a while.

7/10/15: I must have this now!
10/04/18: Such a beautiful story. Can't wait to read more by Laini Taylor.

i def did not like this one as much as the first, I thought the plot was a bit messy, there were way too many characters and there were too many plot points that were either unnecessary (the whole library thing?!!!) or just bad and also quite different from the first book, she tried to do too much in only one book and introduced too many things at once, and it also did some of the characters a disservice. and in the end a lot of it get tied up really quickly, and it seems with out consequences.

Hoo. I love me some Laini Taylor, but her stories stress me out. I trudged along very slowly in the first half mainly because I sensed that things were about to get bananas and wasn’t sure I could handle it.
Now that I know what Minya is like, anytime she showed up on the page I put down the book and tried to hype myself up for it. What macabre way was she going to mess with people today? Oof. Minya is a great character but man is she horrifying.
A similar hindrance slowed me down in the beginning with the introduction of the new characters Kora and Nova. I just needed to be patient and trust that Laini Taylor is a great author.

This is, truly, a perfect duology. The writing is absolutely stunning. The characters are incredible. Their growth and relationships are beautiful to watch. Wow.

What an absolutely stunning conclusion to a truly beautiful duology.
I'll be honest, this book took me longer to get into than the first through no fault of the book. It's just as well written as the first, but the plot twist at the end of book one/central plot at the start of book two had me so stressed i had to listen very slowly. Which in its own way is a testimony to how well written it is. I've read this plot concept many times before in other series, and its almost never left me feeling as angry and trapped for the main characters as it did in Muse of Nightmares.
I loved the introduction of two new main characters in this one and the way there story arcs unfold.
This duology also has one of the most interesting, well written, and three dimensional antagonists I've encountered.
I HATED Minya for a lot of this book, but I also understood her and deeply sympathized with her. I also adore the way her arc unfolds, and never wouldve expected how excited I would be for her to enter a scene the way she did towards the end of the book. The way the author was able to write such a compelling character and plot astounds me.
I loved the multiverse plot twist and the discovery of where the "gods" came from and what happened to the other god spawn that werent killed.
The last third of the book had me completely enthralled, and the ending was utterly perfect.
