If immersing yourself in the pathetic whinings of an old well-to-do white New Yorker who possesses the moral awareness of a three-year old, then this is your cup of tea.

This is the 4th book in the series and I’ve loved them all. Somehow they are quietly comforting to me - especially the main character Lucy Barton. I listened on audio and also find the narrators voice comforting. This particular novel was set during the pandemic and it was strange, unpleasant, and comforting to “re-live” it through the story.

I can’t believe this book is so well reviewed. Pretty boring, the main characters felt pretentious and lots of topics felt forced/contrived/corny (daughter’s comment about her potential affair, election stuff, the whole “Arms” novel/story). There were a few bright spots and I didn’t hate it, but can’t think of a reason to recommend other than it’s a quick read.
