I did enjoy it, the spice was definitely spicing. Ramsey is a keeper for sure he deserves it all. It’s just sometimes was a bit, like something was missing i don’t know how to explain, it is my first siren/mermaid romantacy so I don’t know, I do recommend to read.

Action packed, great romance, good spice. Loved this spin on the little mermaid. Gives pirates of the Caribbean vibes but make it more spicy. This book had me hooked right away and never had a dull moment. Some good unexpected twists in there too! Highly recommend for a fun summer read!

Think Little Mermaid dark retelling with Pirates, vampires, Kraken, and a lot of vengeance.

This story captivated me from the first chapter. It is DARK, so check trigger warnings before diving in. The characters are well written with a lot of depth and some tragic back stories. The world building was non existent but it is basically our world in a different time period so I just kept picturing images from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. lol.

The plot is mainly the main characters finding their revenge from the same person for different reasons and using each other to get to that goal. It was a good story for the most part.

The audiobook was stellar, I loved the narrators. K bye.

This was fun! A DARK romance retelling of The Little Mermaid meets Pirates of the Caribbean with Vampires! The submerses you in this oceanic world of pirate ships and under the sea worlds with sharks, krakens, sea witches, pirates, sirens, and mermaids, but not the beautiful mermaids that you’re thinking. These have gills and claws that are made to kill. These dark sea pirate vibes were so good. 🏴‍☠️ 🚢 🧜‍♀️

The monster aspect of this got to be a bit too much for me at times and was kind of overkill.

“I’m not going to let you get away, no matter how much you beg. And believe me, I would love to hear you beg.”

“Darling, your body would bring any man to their knees where they would be in the right position to worship you. It’s a body carved by god yet meant for sin, and it would become anyone’s salvation.”

A good, solid pirate romance. Though it hasn’t stopped me from reading them, I can never NOT imagine Captain Jack Sparrow anytime I read certain pirate-y lines (e.g., “Savvy?”).

So far, I’ve only read Halle’s retellings (the other was [b:Blood Orange|58245394|Blood Orange (The Dracula Duet, #1)|Karina Halle|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1662563849l/58245394._SX50_.jpg|91293885]/[b:Black Rose|62923533|Black Rose (The Dracula Duet, #2)|Karina Halle|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1670781065l/62923533._SX50_.jpg|98742485] which is a Dracula retelling) but I do not mind them as much as I keep thinking I will. While this is a The Little Mermaid retelling, it’s not so much retelling the plot of the movie as it is fictionalizing what could’ve happened after. It does give the author a bit of leeway (which is perhaps not a good thing) that I can get by with less background to the story, because I’m already familiar with the context thanks to the original story.

The romance was good, if a bit cheesy at times, but I didn’t really feel any angst from the “enemies” to lovers part. I don’t really feel that she was ever his enemy or vice versa. It’s much more of a captor/captive situation. Thankfully, Maren (our FMC) points this out, but the abduction, forced proximity, and angst is really not that bad when you consider how awful her husband, Aerik, is.

Also, extremely sad that Goodreads doesn’t have a listing for the Fabled edition, which I got from Half Price Books, because the cover is beautiful.

- 2 stars -

The story itself sits comfortably at a 3-star level — engaging, interesting, though occasionally repetitive and a bit longer than necessary.

Unfortunately, the audiobook quality dragged the entire experience down. The female narrator was shockingly bad. It sounded like she recorded the entire thing through a laptop mic while whispering so as not to wake a sleeping baby next to her. No energy, no clarity, just a flat, muffled delivery that made it hard to stay engaged. Honestly, it was so distracting I almost didn’t finish. This performance desperately needs a re-recording with proper equipment

I feel like some parts of the story should've been longer and were rushed through. Especially in part 2 but apart from that this was a fantastic read i would reread anyday

This Little Mermaid retelling was so well written! I knew that I liked this author’s work from past books I have read, but this one really packed a punch for me. It was a wild ride I never wanted to end! Maren really surprised me towards the end with how she handled her situation. She really is the strong main character energy and I quite liked her a lot. Bones was another surprise I didn’t see coming! Monsters call to monsters is an understatement! This was such a fun read and I can’t wait to be back in this world of kickass pirates.
