As always, the book was great. But the miscommunication trope was so incredibly frustrating that I could not give it 4 stars. The entire book was just a complete lack of communication and it made me so angry. Anyway, I never did read Plains of Passage when I first read these books, so here's hoping that one is not just one big misunderstanding!

This book and the one before it were a little sexually graphic, but I still enjoyed the process of discovery and invention which has been in all the books so far. It's interesting (although also frustrating) to see how the main characters grow and mature through mistakes and misunderstandings. // May be my favorite because of the Mamutoi? If you can ignore or skip over Jondalar's stupidity.

Oh my god, did we really need such a sloppy love triangle?

More new cultures and customs are introduced, but with some more depth to them. This third instalment is even more repetitive when it comes to the plot than the second one; hopefully it's not a trend...

I got so sick of Jondolar acting like a possessive, spoiled brat that I barely finished the book. Seriously, dude and his big dick need to just fucking die and rid Ayla of his toxic fragility.
