This book was so frustrating!! You would think that between two smart people they would be able to actually talk about their problems and issues together and figure out what the problem is. Unfortunately, this did not happen and I felt like I was reading the same thing over and over again for 300 pages.

Ayla grew up with the Clan and cannot understand the animosity the others have for them. Will these others accept her as she is. Ayla is learning more about the others, while she stays with the mammoth camp. Jondalar just doesn't know how to share his feelings. With so much miscommunication, will they survive the winter together.
