This is the best book in the series so far, in my opinion. I absolutely love it! I have no words to describe how much I love this series. I've learned so much from them so far, I can't wait to catch up to the rest. These books are so realistic that I almost take them as non-fiction. In fact, I DO take it as non-fiction! LOVE IT.

1. The Clan of the Cave Bear ★★★★★
2. The Valley of Horses ★★★★★
3. The Mammoth Hunters ★★★★
Oh this book drove me crazy! This has one of the most emotionally trying love-triangles that I have ever encountered. For 3/4 of the book I wanted to pull out my hair and slap a whole bunch of people. I am glad that in the next book Ayla and Jondalar have left the Mamutoi. I could not handle any more of that. But I still love Ayla and Jondalar despite their cluelessness and I love this story so I am looking forward to book 4.

Nostalgia.... wearing..... off..... Starting to get a little embarrassed that I'm still reading. But I'm gonna get through this series! I found the characters much less likable in this one. I like Auel's nature and landscape and animal descriptions and way-of-life descriptions though. I could have done without the romantic plot.
