Listening to the narration by Ray Porter is incredible. They add so much to the text with this amazing acting ability. I don't think I would have teared up at the ending or been so invested if I was reading this book on the page!

I laughed out loud multiple times during this book. Like The Martian, the science is great, the characters likable, and the flow strong. Fast paced, engaging, simply delightful. There are lots of lines I wanted to read out loud to my husband (or quote to you here) but they are so much better enjoyed in the context so I restrained myself.

A list of things in this book that made me feel things:
- Ryland thinking of his kids and being a cool teacher (if I had a teacher like him I would probably understand the science speak he uses lmao)
-Rocky, I would die for him
-"You are friend"
-"Amaze Amaze Amaze"
-Ryland and Rocky saving each other
-the two scientist starting to bone, I can't explain but it made me laugh so much
-the guy who had to tell the army to nuke the North (South?) pole and broke down from the choice he had to make, I will stop using plastic for you, Mr. French climatologist
- Rocky naming the planet after his partner
-the aliens watching each other sleep to protect each other in this vulnerable state and Ryland missing it when he is gone
-the audiobook is really good and added to my enjoyment and my feeling of things
- *sniffs* humanity

I read this book in two sittings of several hours each, and the book effortlessly held my attention the entire time. I really cared about the main characters, and I loved how the story progressed. Delightful read.

I used to be so good at science when I was younger, but now the smallest hint of science (and math) will make my brain shut down. So even though there was a lot of that going on, the book was so good. I loved Rocky so much (as well as the interactions between Ryland and Rocky). I just think it’s sick that if this were to ever be made into a movie I would not be able to watch it because Rocky would terrify me.

Anyways, this book also made me cry. It was heartwarming yet slightly sad, and I just really loved the friendship between Ryland and Rocky.
