[a:Andy Weir|6540057|Andy Weir|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1382592903p2/6540057.jpg] only knows how to write one character. We think of [a:Andy Weir|6540057|Andy Weir|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1382592903p2/6540057.jpg] as being an innovative, creative writer, but there were literally no differences between [b:Project Hail Mary|54493401|Project Hail Mary|Andy Weir|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1597695864l/54493401._SY75_.jpg|79106958] and [b:The Martian|18007564|The Martian|Andy Weir|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1413706054l/18007564._SY75_.jpg|21825181]!! I thought that maybe, just maybe I was being hypersensitive, but after scrolling through other Goodreads reviews, the general consensus is that [a:Andy Weir|6540057|Andy Weir|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1382592903p2/6540057.jpg] has failed as a character developer. Mark Watney and Ryland Grace make the same jokes, have the same faults, and are surrounded by the SAME EXACT PEOPLE.

Furthermore, EVERY. SINGLE. OBSTACLE. Ryland encountered had some magical solution. There is no true danger in the book because you know everything will work out perfectly!!!! It's annoying! and lazy writing! I wanted to throw this book in [a:Andy Weir|6540057|Andy Weir|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1382592903p2/6540057.jpg]'s uncreative face and scream!

Yes, [b:Project Hail Mary|54493401|Project Hail Mary|Andy Weir|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1597695864l/54493401._SY75_.jpg|79106958] is a marvelous feat. The science and research that went into the book rivals [a:Michael Crichton|5194|Michael Crichton|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1359042651p2/5194.jpg]'s own work, but if you want to be a scientist and a writer, learn how to write! Or stay in the lab!!

Freakin’ AMAZING! Hard sci-fi, emotional and thrilling. Absolutely one of my favourite books.
