I didn't cry but I wanted to and I can feel the tears building behind my eyes. Such a bitter sweet story. Roger is one of my favorite characters and now knowing the love his parents displayed, I love him even more.

I enjoyed getting to hear more about Roger McKenzie’s parents and about how they die. And while I know they have obviously died, I felt the story ended almost similarly to a cliffhanger, or rather abruptly almost. Still I enjoyed this novella.

While I typically enjoy seeing how different threads come together, with all these different novellas I’m coming to realize the Diana Gabaldon cannot leave any stone unturned when it comes to the Outlander universe. Not only that, but apparently every character has to be connected to one another in such a way that it goes so far beyond coincidence. Normally I’d like those little Easter eggs, but when it happens constantly they begin to lose their appeal.

Loved the tie-in with the other characters in this book, plus it's coming back around in the new book!
