Heartstopper Volume 2

I feel like the Netflix adaptation might have set a high standard for people who haven't read the novel before watching the series. The absence of other storylines besides Nick and Charlie's (which are very present in the TV show) ends up being felt throughout the reading. Still, it's a solid volume, with a bigger focus on Nick's journey into sexuality. It is still something I would have absolutely loved to have growing up - even more with the care the author puts into sending a positive journey for the boys, excluding cheap drama and unnecessary tropes to give place to what is almost a guide on how to respect others' personal journeys.

I'm not too certain how to write a review for a graphic novel. Normally I do NOT like graphic novels. They are too quick of a read for me. I am someone who is a sucker for details. The more details the better. And with that being said, Heartstopper vol 1-5 were absolutely worth the read. I started my downward spiral into the beautiful love lives of Nick and Charlie via the Netflix tv show, and my wife purchased the novels for me for my birthday. I read them all in one night. I laughed, I cried, I smiled, and everything in between. My heart aches for the love that is shown in Alice Oseman's writing style and graphic art. They really know how to tug at my heart strings. Also, the representation in all of her graphic novels and novellas... incredible. It is incredible important for LGBTQ+ to see representation of themselves in the media, and I applaud Alice for being able to depict it in such a beautiful way. Well done. Bravo. I am at a loss of words.
TLDR: PLEASE READ THESE!
